With gratitude and humility I offer this testimony of the healing and regenerating power of Christian Science, which I have experienced over a period of many years.

I was invalided home to England after service abroad in the Mercantile Marine. The doctors stated that I had malaria and would be unable to return to seagoing duty. A great sense of disappointment resulted, and because of it and recurring attacks of fever I became very much depressed and unhappy. Heavy drinking and smoking were resorted to for consolation, but soon I came to the point where I felt that life held little satisfaction and was without a real purpose.

At this point Christian Science was presented to me, and I now know that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." In my case this opportunity enabled me to prove the allness and ever-presence of God. The healing of the malaria was quickly followed by my complete freedom from alcoholism and the tobacco habit. This was indeed a convincing proof that man is satisfied and complete.
