I should like to add my testimony of gratitude to God for the consecration and devotion of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and for the beautiful unfoldment that has come through her writings and through her establishment of the Church of Christ, Scientist.

Some time ago I awakened early one morning with an acute pain in my left shoulder. I arose and walked the floor, repeating many truths which unfolded and striving to maintain in consciousness only Godlike thoughts. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I read numerous references which helped me to reason correctly. However, as I was unable to move the arm, I remained at home. I did not call for assistance immediately, for I hoped to be able to demonstrate freedom without the help of a practitioner. However, on the second day I did call for treatment, which was lovingly given.

During the second week at home I became discouraged, because there appeared to be no improvement. I then began to wonder if I really understood any thing at all of Christian Science. The truths I had been studying for several years, and which I felt I understood to a degree, now seemed to be only lovely words which I could not grasp or did not have any faith in.
