I had always had a great desire to get rid of the social drinking habit, but did not know how to do so, and every attempt resulted in failure. One day I went to a public library to find something interesting to read. On a table of periodicals I noticed a copy of The Christian Science journal. This was my first contact with Christian Science. As I read the Journal, it proved to be the greatest blessing that had ever come into my life, for it healed me of the drinking habit. That was sixteen years ago, and I have had no desire to go back to the old state of affairs.

I also received a permanent healing of the tobacco habit of fifty years' standing. During the latter years I was smoking sixty to seventy cigarettes daily. After I had been studying Science for some time these words came to me very clearly: "You have smoked your last cigarette." And it was so. I thank God that I have had no desire to smoke since, even though at first I was frequently offered cigarettes by others.

Later, to my great pleasure, a cyst disappeared from my neck after it had steadily grown larger over a period of thirty years. No specific Christian Science treatment was given for this condition, but my study of Christian Science literature, together with attendance at church services and lectures, brought the healing. The daily study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly during the early morning has meant much to me. It has been a joy to find that relatives and fellow workers to whom I have mentioned Christian Science have also derived lasting benefit from it and in some cases have become students of this healing religion.—Harry Barron, London, England.
