At one time I suffered from severe...

At one time I suffered from severe back trouble and was in pain from every movement. I did prayerful work and had help from a consecrated practitioner, but the healing did not come.

On Saturday of that week we had an exceptionally heavy snowstorm, which I thought gave me an excuse for not attending church the next morning. On Sunday morning I glanced out the window at the snow and saw my neighbor on her way to church. She was going to substitute for the Second Reader, and I wanted very much to hear her read. I thought, "I should be walking as freely as she is, instead of groaning every time I move." Right then and there I decided to bear witness to Spirit. I dressed for church, and though I had to jump over snowdrifts to get there, I arrived on time and was happy to be able to attend the service.

Later I met a friend and told her that I was very grateful for this experience, but that as yet I was not entirely free. She said that while I was talking the suggestion of false responsibility had come to her. She then explained to me that my only responsibility was to reflect God. I immediately began to feel relief, and by the time I had walked the block to my home I was free. I can never relate how exalted I felt. Jesus said (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I had been laboring under a false sense of responsibility and when I saw the truth I was free.
