Christian Science has been a way of life for our family for some thirty-five years. My parents first became interested in this truth after my brother, when a baby, had been given up to die because of convulsions and extreme malnutrition. He was completely healed in one or two treatments. We children attended the Christian Science Sunday School at an early age, as now also do my children.

One of the healings I have been most grateful for was that of my oldest boy who, when about two and a half years old, contracted polio. During the time he was ill and could not walk, another member of the family came to see us and very lovingly declared some of the truths of Christian Science. On her next visit two or three days later the boy ran out to meet her, entirely free. This healing occurred through her understanding of Truth and perhaps was aided by my own fearlessness. Later, my older daughter, who was then about two years of age, was healed of double mastoiditis through the firm understanding of this same member of the family.

We have had many demonstrations of divine Love's presence and power, which heal both sin and sickness. So-called children's diseases quickly faded away as I earnestly applied Science. Infections were healed by the realization that "the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword" (Hebr. 4:12). My eldest son severely cut his hand while at work, and the hand became very swollen and painful. He did not accept any medicine, and the condition was quickly met through Christian Science alone. This same boy also suffered from a sore leg, incurred while playing football. Since he could hardly bear his weight upon it, he asked me for help. He was quickly healed as I thought about Jesus' healing of the man who never had walked.
