RADIO PROGRAM No. 75 - A New Concept of Business

On this program Desmond M. Donaldson of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, told of his own experience, as follows:

On one occasion we found we had to accept a shipment of steel we didn't really need, and it was at a time we didn't have many orders on hand, nor any surplus of funds. We had placed an order for this shipment almost a year previously because of the difficult supply situation. If we had canceled it, we might have endangered our chances for further supply. So the situation was serious. I was particularly disturbed because I felt quite a sense of responsibility to several investors in the business. There seemed to be no way out.

Both my wife and I had attended the Christian Science Sunday School. We had both experienced and witnessed many physical healings as the result of applying Christian Science, and it was natural for us to expect that God could correct an unhealthy business situation too. In addition to our own efforts to apply Christian Science, we asked a Christian Science practitioner to help us. In a conversation with this practitioner it was pointed out that the thought of limited capital and restricted sales volume must be replaced with the true concept of divine Love as man's real capital. Also, that under the law of God, divine Love, supply always equals demand. We saw we should turn away from confusing human planning to God's unerring direction. We got an entirely new concept of business. We reasoned that actually the only business that man has is the business of reflecting God, and this activity cannot be interfered with, slowed up, nor stopped.
