Preceding my acceptance of the truth as revealed by Christian Science, I had followed the illusive mirages of just about every "ism" and "ology" that I could find. I had nearly resigned myself to the Oriental belief that all my misfortunes were the result of misdeeds I had committed in a former life. Much discouraged, I was led to seek a Christian Science practitioner.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy, our revered Leader, writes (pp. 288, 289), "The eternal Truth destroys what mortals seem to have learned from error, and man's real existence as a child of God comes to light." The practitioner proved this statement to be true, for the glorious light dawned in my thought, and the clouds of error were rolled back. The practitioner asked me to attend Sunday services and Wednesday testimony meetings. I promised that I would, and I have kept this promise for seventeen years.

Wonderful as this introduction to Christian Science was, and grateful as I am, I am even more grateful for the healing through mental surgery of a malignant growth, which covered the entire left side of my chest.
