I have known about Christian Science since my childhood, when my sister was healed of a condition diagnosed as a softening of the bone structure of the ankles. She could not stand, and the doctors said that she would never walk. An aunt, who had just become interested in Science, asked my mother to try it. With the help of a practitioner and the care of a Christian Science nurse, who came to our home, my sister was walking in a very short time. The healing was complete.

My sister and I were immediately enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School. I had the wonderful privilege of attending for eight years, and I shall always be grateful for the foundation of truth I received. During these years I was healed of various discords, but always by the work of my mother and practitioners. I had yet to come to the realization that by taking my stand for Christian Science I too could prove the wonderful truths I learned in Sunday School.

It was not until I was married and living in a distant city that I was faced with the problem of opposition to Christian Science. My husband and his mother, who was living with us, preferred that our two children attend some other Sunday School. I stopped attending church and became a willing martyr to their desires, instead of claiming man's God-given freedom of worship.
