For over thirty years Christian Science has been my only remedy for sickness and inharmony of every sort. It was not for reasons of health, however, that I sought out Christian Science.

A stranger in a large western city and dissatisfied with the teachings of the church of my parents, I found myself wandering in the "wilderness," which is defined in part by Mrs. Eddy as, "Loneliness; doubt; darkness" (Science and Health, p. 597). I had investigated several other religions, and I decided to investigate Christian Science as well. Now I know that it was God who led me to find the name of a Christian Science practitioner in the telephone directory of that unfamiliar city and to ask her to talk to me about God.

In my visits with her she made it known to me that Christian Science is a practical religion and that it needs to be lived every day. Her explanations healed me of loneliness, and my doubt regarding God disappeared. I borrowed a copy of Science and Health and began to study it.
