One Christmas holiday season I was suffering from a cold and congestion, as well as from intestinal disturbance. Not being able to make my demonstration of freedom, I called a consecrated Christian Science practitioner for help. The call was at five thirty one afternoon, and I said I would report to her the next morning. Her reply was, "We will have a good report."

I turned to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and pondered the words (p. 1), "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God, —a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love." Then I enjoyed a good night's sleep. The next morning the pain and other symptoms had gone, and I drove more than one hundred miles to our daughter's home for the holiday. "The word of God is quick, and powerful" (Hebr. 4:12).

When I reported to the practitioner the good results that had been achieved she quoted this wonderful statement from Science and Health (p. 14): "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth. This understanding casts out error and heals the sick, and with it you can speak 'as one having authority.'"
