My interest in Christian Science...

My interest in Christian Science began as the result of seeing an instantaneous healing of an advanced case of tuberculosis of the lungs, which two years in a sanatorium had failed to help. I have had many beautiful proofs of protection through faithfully studying the teachings of this Science.

That no fire consumes like the fire of Truth was illustrated by the following experience. One day I discovered gas escaping in the kitchen, where plumbing work had been done. In testing the gas equipment, I unwisely struck a match to the leak; and a sheet of flame shot up to the eight-foot ceiling. Quickly the angel thought came, God will show me how to put this out.

I threw over the flame a double thickness of a very dry percale dress. Although I could see the weave of the material stand out in the flame, the dress did not burn; and the flame was cut off immediately. With this release came the thought of Moses' experience, when he beheld that the fire did not consume the bush (Ex. 3:2).
