"THE INFINITE LIGHT"

In simple metaphor the Apostle John summed up the great lesson Christ Jesus taught (I John 1:5): "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." Light includes no darkness, but spreads its radiance without effort, dispelling shadows. So God, pure Mind, includes no evil, but radiates knowledge of His own allness, extinguishing states of ignorance, fear, and sin, which would hold mankind in mental darkness and despair.

Christian Science brings spiritual light because it includes all truth. It illumines human thought by instructing it in the facts of being: the infinitude of God, good, and the consequent nothingness of evil and matter; the perfection of spiritual man, God's likeness, and the unreality of the mortal sense of existence; the unity of the Father and His sons—a unity as unseverable as that of the sun and its rays.

Many have been conscious of the spiritual illumination which accompanies the awakening of thought to Truth and have found themselves healed and purified. They have been forced to concede that Spirit is tangible substance, known by the light which it imparts. They have accepted this light as absolute evidence of the divine authenticity of Christian Science. But how to retain its benison is the problem of every Christian Scientist, how to dwell constantly in that Light in which there "is no darkness at all" and to reflect it with uninterrupted healing power.
