Like the Psalmist (Ps. 142:1, 2): "I cried unto the Lord with my voice.... I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble." Our dear Father-Mother God answered my prayer through the spiritual understanding I gained from "Science and Health with Key to the Scripture" by Mary Baker Eddy and from her other writings.

I was a member of an orthodox church for many years, but I did not find its religion a practical one. As I was much in need of healing of various conditions I prayed long and earnestly for light, and Love opened the way for me when I was sent to work for a woman who was a student of Christian Science. One day I picked up her copy of Science and Health and opened it to the chapter on Prayer. After reading a few pages I thought, This is just what I have been praying for.

When the woman came in I asked her about this book, and she told me of its healing power. I mentioned my need of healing, and she told me of a Christian Science practitioner in the town. I went at once to see her and poured out my troubles to her. At that one visit I received my healing of the discordant conditions which had bothered me, including neuralgia, backache, and inharmonious effects of childbirth.
