In gratitude to God for Christian Science...

In gratitude to God for Christian Science I want to add my testimony of the healing power of the truth it reveals. About nine years ago I was healed of rheumatoid arthritis in a severe form, every joint in the body being affected, even the jaws being partially locked. I was cared for in the home of a Christian Scientist and had treatment from an experienced practitioner. Each day I was helped from my bed to a wheel chair. The healing was gradual, but the good that unfolded and the lessons that were learned then are still with me.

I have so often been asked just what thoughts helped me most at that time that I would like to give a few of them here. There were three stages of unfoldment, which were followed immediately by such marked improvement as to leave no doubt of the cause. During the first stage, for many weeks, there was no outward evidence of progress until hidden fear was uncovered in my thinking. From that moment the fear began to diminish, and so did the crippling pain. Soon I left the wheel chair and began to walk about the house by leaning on the furniture and using a cane.

The second stage of unfoldment took place when at the request of the practitioner I made the attempt to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist. I felt at first that I was not yet ready to take this step, for I had hoped to be completely healed before showing myself in public again. Much false sense of self had to be laid aside, but when gratitude for all the good I had received filled my thought and I realized that there were no mortal minds to think anything unlike good about me, the excuses, objections, and difficulties melted away, and I went forward.
