The understanding of God which...

The understanding of God which has come to me through many years of study in Christian Science is the most precious possession I have. One of the chief values of this possession is that it becomes greater through use.

As a young woman I discontinued attending services in the churches of the Protestant denomination in which I had been reared, because I failed to receive the guidance and comfort which I so sorely needed. Some years later I began to feel that I was not serving God and humanity as I should be doing. Life was pleasant enough, but I was unsatisfied.

My contacts with students of Christian Science had left with me the impression that they were most grateful for their religion and very steadfast in their adherence to its teachings. I went to a Christian Science Reading Room which I had noticed near my home and came away with a borrowed copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and the current Christian Science Quarterly. With these and the Bible I began at once to study the Lesson-Sermons. Membership in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, came some time later and gave me many opportunities to serve. The satisfaction I sought has been found in abundant measure.
