It is now more than twelve years...
It is now more than twelve years since I had my first healing in Christian Science. After two major operations for double prolapse, the doctor's verdict was that I would always be a semi-invalid, even if I should have a third operation. I was in pain all the time. I went to a practitioner for help and to find out what I could about Christian Science. Also I began to study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, and I found it a helpful influence in my life.
One morning I thought I would go for a walk up a little hill at which I had often looked from my window. The words of the Bible came to me (Ps. 121:1, 2): "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." I had just started up the hill when I realized that I was completely healed. I looked around to see if there were anyone I could tell about it, but there was not; so I hurried home and telephoned the practitioner. She advised me to tell no one for a while, and she said I had earned my healing. I think that it was splendid of her to encourage me so.
Only those who have suffered for years can understand what a marvelous experience was mine. I thank God from the bottom of my heart for our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who has revealed to us the truth that makes us free from sin, disease, and death. I am deeply grateful for the dear practitioner who helped me and for class instruction, which was a sheer joy to me.—(Mrs.) Gladys Scriber, Sunderland, Durham, England.
