Dr. Nathan Pusey President, Harvard University in an address as reported in The United Church Observer Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Dr. Pusey said: "Our need is not for a religion of the future but for a religion now," adding that "a paralyzing disbelief has, in considerable measure, taken the place of the vigorous and creative faith."

The new President said that our preoccupation had been largely with the secular world and it had failed to satisfy. He said that now "our most gaping need" is not for leadership "in increased industrial might or more research facilities, but in religious knowledge and even more in religious experience."
