SUSTAINED INSPIRATION

Elihu stated a great truth when he said (Job 32:8), "There is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding." Christian Science confirms Elihu's wisdom. It shows the inexcusableness of one's ever losing his joy and enthusiasm in working out human problems through this Science. And it does this by revealing the fact that it is God, and not the seeming human self, who sustains spiritual inspiration. It is the Almighty who inspires man, His likeness, with the continuous understanding of Truth. Hence man's appreciation of good never diminishes, but expands eternally—a fact that is demonstrable at all times.

God knows the glory of His own being and is infinitely self-inspired. And it is through man that this divine inspiration is manifested as good is unfolded in the heights and depths and pure qualities of its meaning. Man forever reflects Love in its recognition of its own divinity. Christian Science provides such truths as these as the remedy if one seems to lose the freshness of his initial joy in divine Science. Grasping them, one holds to his dawn and goes on to the noontide of a fuller revelation of universal harmony in all its implications.

Continued inspiration in devotion to the demonstration of spiritual reality is one's proof that man's unity with his source, eternal Love, is understood. Mary Baker Eddy says in her Message to The Mother Church for 1902 (p. 8): "The spiritually minded are inspired with tenderness, Truth, and Love. The life of Christ Jesus, his words and his deeds, demonstrate Love. We have no evidence of being Christian Scientists except we possess this inspiration, and its power to heal and to save."
