It is with deepest gratitude that I testify to my many healings in Christian Science. My first healing occurred about eighteen years ago. I had been told by four different surgeons over a period of eight years that a major operation would be necessary before I could enjoy freedom from what was thought might be a cancerous condition. In addition I was near a nervous breakdown, due to mental strain and long hours in my business, which was the whole support of my family.

Through a friend of mine I learned how to get in touch with a Christian Science practitioner. I called her and went to her office that afternoon and each afternoon for seven days. The eighth day I called her to say I was free from the pain and under very much less nervous strain. Both the physical difficulty and the mental strain soon disappeared. Shortly afterward I joined both The Mother Church and our local branch church. Healings that followed this step were those of chronic constipation, colds, and severe headaches. Some of the healings came through my own work and others through the work of a loving practitioner. A severe summer cold was healed completely one Sunday afternoon while I was reading the book of Job.

A more recent healing in the family, none of whom profess to be followers of Christian Science, was the healing of my aged mother of cancer. Eight years ago, while she was in the East, an eminent surgeon advised against any treatment, due to her age. After she came West three other doctors also advised against any treatment. When she realized there was nothing to be done medically, even to relieve the pain, she was willing to work daily with me in Christian Science. She read each day from the Bible, from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and from the periodicals with which I supplied her. The pain lessened the first day she commenced reading, and gradually the cancerous condition entirely disappeared. This was just before she reached her ninetieth birthday.
