CHRISTIAN SCIENCE HEALS

"How does Christian Science heal?" is a question frequently asked by those searching for freedom. And the invariable reply is, "It heals in the same way that Christ Jesus did, through the understanding of man's oneness, or unity, with God."

When Mary Baker Eddy presented this religion to the world it was repudiated by many, but they had not studied the Principle and rules by means of which Christian Science is demonstrated. In the study of mathematics certain rules must be complied with before success can be attained, and in Christian Science, rules must be followed before healing can take place. Mrs. Eddy in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and in her other writings gives rules for the harmonious government of human affairs and sound instruction for the practice and teaching of Christian Science.

An earnest student of Christian Science always endeavors to obey the two commandments left by Christ Jesus (Matt. 22:37—40): "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." To obey them fully he knows that he must watch his thinking, in accordance with Mrs. Eddy's instruction in the textbook (p. 392): "Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously."
