My gratitude goes out to God...

My gratitude goes out to God for the many blessings I have received through the study of Christian Science; it goes out also to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has given us a religion of Love.

Some years ago I spent many weeks applying for positions in various capacities, but to no avail, and I became very discouraged. One morning as I started on a bus journey to make another application for work my mother gave me a copy of The Christian Science Journal and said, "It will be better if you let God guide you today."

On the trip, as I looked out of the bus window feeling very depressed and sorry for myself, I said almost aloud, "Here I am, God; use me." Then I turned to the Journal and opened it to an article entitled "New Work." My destination that day was to be an employment office which had been recommended to me, but becoming more and more interested in the article, I passed the corner nearest the office and alighted from the bus several blocks away. As I walked into a nearby store to await a bus by which to return I noticed an arrow pointing to the personnel office, and I felt it could do me no harm to make application for work.
