It is with great joy that I wish to express my deep gratitude to Christian Science for all that it has done for me over a period of many years.

The following healing was evidence to me of the efficacy of this Science. On one of the coldest days in February, 1948, when leaving the railroad station, I was taken suddenly faint and had a severe heart attack. I stopped and clung to the railing of a footbridge and began to declare God's omnipresence. After a few minutes I went to the home of a friend who helped me to know the truth regarding man as taught in Christian Science, and finally I was able to go home by train. The heart trouble persisted, but I continued to cling to what I understood of God. I thought too that perhaps a night's rest would bring me back to normal. It did nothing for me, however, and the next day my family, much disturbed at my weakened condition and persistent insomnia, sent for a doctor, who said that I had had a stroke.

Two days later the heart condition was worse, and the doctor stated that the situation was very serious because of my advanced years. The digestive organs stopped functioning, and my legs were useless. The doctor informed my children that if the paralysis lasted, it would be a miracle if I lived. The suffering prevented me from thinking clearly; but God was taking care of me, and my desire to have Christian Science help was granted. The doctor was dismissed, and one of my daughters-in-law at my request called a Christian Science practitioner, who came to see me. The work which was done by the practitioner left me confident and quieted. Half an hour after she left, the digestive organs were functioning normally. However, one leg was still partially paralyzed, painful, and inflamed.
