Pearl Strachan Hurd

Day in full flower! How can we longer peer
As through a mist in this full blaze of light?
Or fold ourselves asleep? Or longer grope
For something labeled truth?
Truth like a spear
Cuts sharply through the surface fact of sight
And justifies the effort and the hope.
