"Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" (Matt. 12:34). It is because of the abundance of blessings which I have had and my sincere gratitude and reverence for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that I give this testimony.

My introduction to Christian Science occurred many years ago through my reading a Christian Science periodical which had been placed in a distribution box at an out-of-the-way railway station by a literature distribution committee. I was a medical nurse and was on my way to attend a serious surgical operation. While waiting between trains, I took a Sentinel from the box and secretly hoped that no one would see me reading it. I shall never forget the peace that came over me as I read the truths expressed therein.

After the operation the doctor said that it was impossible for the patient to live more than a few hours. When I heard this verdict I was confronted with a feeling of extreme helplessness, and my thought turned to what I had read in the Sentinel. I thought how wonderful it would be to have such faith in God. Then came the thought, You can pray, can't you? I prayed; and when the doctor returned a few hours later, he was amazed at the improved condition of the patient. In about two weeks the patient was up and about, healed.
