My mother had Christian Science...
My mother had Christian Science treatment when I was born, and I have known the blessings of this Science all my life. When I was very small I would ask my mother to read "the Daniel story" from the Bible or to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Without exception, whatever illness had been trying to make itself real disappeared instantly.
Two days before I was to go away to college, I became very ill with influenza. It was disheartening to hear my father, who was not a Christian Scientist, say, "She will not be able to leave for college for at least several weeks." A practitioner was called, and my mother read aloud to me most of that day. During the night I awoke feeling as ill as before; but I felt such gratitude to God that I sat up in bed and declared aloud how grateful I was to know that He is Love, that He is good, that He is Life, and that I could love God every instant and be grateful because He never sends error of am kind. I fell into a happy, untroubled sleep and awoke in the morning perfectly well, so completely well that even my father was convinced that I could leave for college. Christian Science was a constant help during my six years of college and law school. I relied on it for every sort of problem that presented itself.
After my marriage three children were born naturally and harmoniously, and I had no fear. The second baby was born so quickly that neither the doctor nor the nurse arrived in time, and only a Christian Science practitioner was with me. I had often marveled at testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals telling of painless childbirth with only a practitioner present, and I am so grateful to have had such an experience of my own. When the third baby was born the doctor in attendance said he had never witnessed anything like it, and he remarked to the practitioner that he wished every child could come into the world with Christian Science help.
