"THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD"

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Do you know what a knight is? That is what a soldier was called long, long ago. When he went into battle a knight wore armor. Sometimes this was called a panoply. It was usually made of a strong metal, which was kept bright and shining. His armor was kept in good condition, too, for if there were any weak places in it, it might not protect the knight during a battle.

All Christian Scientists are soldiers of Christ. Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered Christian Science, knew how important their armor is. In one of her books she says (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 114), "They must always have on armor, and resist the foe within and without." Always! That means all the time. Another great soldier, Paul the Apostle, once said (Eph. 6:11), "Put on the whole armour of God." But we have to know what our armor is made of before we can do that.

What is the strongest thing in the world? It isn't brass. It isn't iron. It isn't steel. It is love! And that is what our armor must be made of. Now, let us see how it protects us.
