PROGRESS IS INFINITE

In the universe of God there are limitless opportunities for progress. There are no barriers, no opposing forces, no evil beliefs to counteract the efforts of good in this wholly spiritual universe of divine Mind; and man, in the image and likeness of God, living, moving, and having his being in this infinite universe of Mind, is free to accomplish all good.

True progress, then, is not measured by an accumulation of material things. Neither is it seen in large bank accounts, social prestige, or the holding of high church offices. Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, defines progress in the following inspired words in her book "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 181): "Progress is the maturing conception of divine Love." Thus true progress may be measured only by an increased understanding of God as Love and of man as the reflection of Love and by the proof of these facts in daily living.

In the degree that this conception of God as infinite Love is enlarged and the discernment of spiritual truths permeates the human consciousness one's outward experience will become fuller, richer, and more harmonious. A keener appreciation of one's fellow men will be attained, environments will become more beautiful, and daily routine will be lifted into the realm of inspiration. There will be a marked decrease in fearful, restrictive thinking. It will be seen that the only ambition is to gain more unfoldment of divine Love and to so express this Love in our lives that the world may catch some glimpse of Truth and be aided in its march of progress Spiritward.
