I am increasingly grateful to God...

I am increasingly grateful to God for an ever-expanding knowledge of Christian Science. During the years in which I have been studying this Science, physical ills, including sore throat, sick headaches, twisted ankles, burns, streptococcal infection, and measles, have been overcome quickly and completely. But equally gratifying is the protection from the appearance of physical ills which an understanding of Christian Science gives us. In our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we read on page 392 the challenging words, "Stand porter at the door of thought." Obedience to this rule has brought me protection from contagion and accidents on numerous occasions.

One of the physical healings I have had which was particularly outstanding to me occurred shortly after we became actively interested in this Science. When my brother and I were still very young, we were allowed to visit the Christian Science Sunday School with friends. There was so much of the warmth of Love and the power of Truth evident there that we were enrolled as regular members.

Shortly after, I began to suffer from earache, which I had had each year for several years. The family doctor had never been able to relieve the condition in any way. This time my mother called a Christian Science practitioner. I recall that she told me among other things that God is Love, and that once a problem is met in Christian Science there is no return of it. Within a day the earache disappeared, and there has been no return of that condition in the many years since the healing. The profound joy in realizing that we had found a workable, powerful religion made a lasting impression upon me as a child; I have been grateful for this many times.
