About thirty-five years ago, as a...
About thirty-five years ago, as a result of childbirth, I was ill with nervous exhaustion, which doctors said could be remedied only by an operation. A Sentinel, which had been used in a packing box, was the messenger which brought Christian Science to my attention. I was so receptive to its message of Truth that I was immediately able to take up my household duties. Within a short time my grandmother visited me and loaned me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy which she had purchased in a western city before coming to see me.
I read the book every available moment, and during the first reading I experienced the healing of several physical ills. I became able to give my husband outside assistance in the farm work, and within a year the symptoms which doctors had said pointed to the need of an operation disappeared entirely. Three children were born after I took up the study of Christian Science, and each occasion was one of greater ease and freedom.
