As a child I attended an orthodox Sunday School, and my question as to why the healing power of Jesus was not practiced today was always answered with the statement that Jesus performed miracles, and that these ended with his sojourn on earth.

For five or six years I did not go to Sunday School. Then through a former Sunday School classmate I heard of a religion that included healing such as Jesus did. I still remember how I almost leaped for joy as I said, "Tell me all about it." This religion was Christian Science.

I obtained the textbook. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and began the daily study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. I also read Mrs. Eddy's other works, her biographies, and the Christian Science periodicals. I had been studying only a short time when I realized I was healed of cystitis for which two leading physicians had told me they could do no more. Although I had two or three attacks after this, each one was lighter, and I was finally entirely healed.
