A TOWER HIGH AND STRONG
"I Wish I could go to church every day, " a young woman once remarked; "I feel so uplifted then. But I can't seem to carry this inspiration with me through the week." Is not the challenge before each of us to identify himself as the idea of God? The constant consciousness of God, good, brings peace and dominion.
The Bible declares (Prov 18: 10), "The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." The real man is now and forever above all earthly bondage and limitation. His dwelling place is the unchangeable "secret place of the most High." To gain this high tower of spiritual illumination we must consistently identify ourselves as the real man. In this high tower our vision is clear and unobstructed. In the citadel of spiritual understanding we are safe from the vagaries of earth-bound thinking; we are high above mortal illusions, above the mist of materiality.
All of us can learn to maintain alertness. The word alert, the dictionary tells us, comes from the French à l'erte, meaning "on the watch." from the Italian all' erta, meaning "on a watchtower." Each day should begin with a turning to God for inspiration, for joyful lifting of our consciousness to the high tower of spiritual dominion, from whence man never actually descends. If our daily round seems one of drudgery or dreariness, let us realize the pure atmosphere of scientific understanding, and the heaviness, dullness, and joylessness of mortal activities will drop away. They cannot accompany us to this citadel, the consciousness of God's omnipotence.
