In Philippians (2:12) the Apostle Paul admonishes us, "Work out your own salvation." Like many other seekers for the way to this goal, I have found that the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, reveals the rules and practice by means of which we can find it.

I have been healed of many physical ills, such as nervous debility, insomnia, lumbago, sprains, and burns, sometimes with the help of a consecrated practitioner, at other times through the understanding I had gained from studying the Bible in conjunction with our textbook.

The healing of insomnia was particularly helpful. The condition was apparently the outcome of worry and trouble. One night when I was sitting up and feeling wearied with sleeplessness, the question suddenly occurred to me, What would Christian Science say to this? The reply followed quickly in thought, Oh! God is Love. I considered the reply inadequate and as having no bearing in my case. Rather halfheartedly I glanced at the cover of the textbook by my bedside, when a further question presented itself, Well, what do you know of Love?
