"GOD ACCEPTETH NO MAN'S PERSON"

Man in God's image and likeness has indestructible, divinely bestowed individuality. To deny such individuality is to deny man's spiritual identity as God's reflection. Christian Science repudiates the counterfeit claims of corporeal individuality by revealing spiritual man's divine identity as the image and reflection of the one infinite and omnipresent Person, who is God.

In her Message to The Mother Church for 1901 Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 5): "Do Christian Scientists believe in personality? They do, but their personality is defined spiritually, not materially—by Mind, not by matter. We do not blot out the material race of Adam, but leave all sin to God's fiat—selfextinction, and to the final manifestation of the real spiritual man and universe. We believe, according to the Scriptures, that God is infinite Spirit or Person, and man is His image and likeness: therefore man reflects Spirit, not matter."

In his teaching and proving of God's power, Christ Jesus looked away from person, corporeality, and arguments of the flesh. Even his enemies recognized this, although they could not have understood its full import. When the chief priests and scribes sent spies to tempt him with the question (Luke 20:22), "Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?" they approached him with these words: "Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly."
