Christian Science came into our family when I was a child, through the healing in our town of a young man in the last stages of tuberculosis. Shortly after this my mother was healed of chronic headaches just through reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

I have had a number of physical healings throughout the years, but one for which I am most grateful stands out. During my high school days a goiter disfigured my neck. It grew larger and caused me much embarrassment and self-consciousness. When after graduation I took a position with a large mail-order firm to earn money for further training at a teachers' college, the difficulty persisted.

One day I was sent to the office and discharged because of my physical condition. I felt discouraged because I knew I would be given a physical examination upon entering college and wondered if I would even be admitted because of this condition. In despair I wrote to an aunt who was a fine student of Christian Science and who had helped me many times. As I recall now, I thought very little about the trouble from that time on.
