FOOD FOR THOUGHT

In human parlance the word man has been commonly used to designate the physical or erroneous concept of man. This material personality is not really man. The Scriptures inform us that God, Spirit, created man in His own image and likeness. A likeness of Spirit could not possibly be material or physical. Therefore the real, God-created man must be spiritual. Created by Spirit, he is sustained by Spirit, not by matter; his health, his happiness, and his supply are all spiritual.

Our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, said (John 4:34), "My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work." Man, the idea of God, could have no better food or meat than the spiritual ideas which his divine Principle constantly imparts to him.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 248), "Immortal Mind feeds the body with supernal freshness and fairness, supplying it with beautiful images of thought and destroying the woes of sense which each day brings to a nearer tomb." Surely one should devote as much time and effort to feeding the body with thoughts of immortal Mind as he gives to the preparing and partaking of material food.
