"YE ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD"

In the Sermon on the Mount our Master, Christ Jesus, gave an illuminating statement that showed the position of his followers. He said (Matt. 5:14) "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid."

To attain this position in Christian Science we must take as our starting point the eternal fact that all that really exists is God and His manifestation. The basis of our thought and our practice must be the truth of the perfection of God and man. To be "the light of the world," we must reflect God in all our ways. We can do this only by knowing the Father aright.

In Christian Science we learn that God is Truth, Mind, Love, Life, Principle, Spirit, Soul. To know God is to have good thoughts; to apprehend Truth is to be truthful and honest; to understand Mind is to think intelligently, wisely, spiritually; to know Love is to be loving, lovely, lovable; to discern Life is to be alert, joyous, ever conscious of and active in good; to understand Principle is to be orderly and lawabiding; to know Spirit is to be spiritual; and to reflect Soul is to have the spiritual sense of all things, is to be harmonious and satisfied.
