I shall always be grateful that...
I shall always be grateful that when my parents established their home, it was located across the street from a Christian Science practitioner. Through her help and influence I learned to depend upon Science for healing at an early age and was enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School. I am grateful that my children too are enjoying this blessed privilege. We have had endless proofs of God's beneficence and of the ever-availability of Truth to heal and bless. Over a period of years problems of unemployment and of finding a suitable home have been solved through the application of Truth. We have had healings in our family of lung trouble, blood poisoning, dislocated elbow, warts, and various children's diseases.
Our youngest child, when a baby of a few months, became ill and seemed unable to move her head without pain. A practitioner began consecrated work, and the healing soon followed. About half a year or more later our two-year-old awakened in the night suffering, and the name of the disease polio suggested itself to me. I called the practitioner, and she said: "We do not need to fear this. We have seen this evil suggestion proved false before." She referred to the incident about the baby.
I clung to the truth, and after a few days I felt assured that I could handle the case myself. The pain went away quickly, but a limp remained. One noon when the child came in from play, the limping seemed worse than ever. When the children were in bed for their naps, I started declaring the truth, then picked up the two copies of The Christian Science Monitor that had come that day. The religious article in each met my need. Fear was replaced with peace and joy, and the child was free.
