LIFE IS ETERNAL

Because God is man's Life, man's existence is eternal. Life, as reflected by man, is never interrupted by death. This is an absolute fact as it exists in the realm of reality. In human experience, however, life appears to be an unstable factor which eventually ends. Christian Science teaches the necessity of holding to the spiritual fact continuously and demonstrating it in an ever-increasing measure in daily experience.

The Christian Scientist who daily rises above the beliefs of the flesh through a realization of the facts of absolute being as taught in Science is proving Life to be eternal, for insofar as this work is successful, his thought is being resurrected from the grave of mortal belief. Many instances of health restored after the sentence of death had been passed on individuals have been recorded in The Christian Science Journal, the Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science; and other instances are being reported daily. There are also well-authenticated instances where those pronounced dead have been brought back to life and usefulness.

Such a case was recently brought to the attention of the writer. A practitioner was called to a home where a young child was in need of help. When he arrived he found that the child was apparently dead. Her body was rigid and her eyes were fixed and staring. Due to the fear of the parents regarding public hostility that might possibly be misdirected at them in case the child died without medical aid, a physician was also called. The doctor, however, left the home without offering any medical treatment or advice, and later telephoned to his wife, saying, "I can do nothing for that child—she's dead."
