HAVE WE ENTERED A STRONG DISCLAIMER?

The Christian Scientist knows that as a child of God, created in His image and likeness, he has a claim to the divine heritage of goodness, harmony, health, abundance, peace, and security. He knows that the so-called claims of mortal mind, based on the physical senses, are false, and therefore any suggestion that man can be sick, sin, or die is a lie. He knows with the certainty which proof affords that in proportion to his perception of perfect God and perfect man will man's wonderful heritage be evidenced in his experience.

One sometimes hears such remarks as, "To mortal sense I seem to be ill;" "That's just an argument of mortal mind;" or, "That only appears to be so." As Christian Scientists, we may perceive the mental nature of the claim of mortal mind, but to obtain healing we must enter a strong disclaimer based on the validity of the fact that man is the perfect idea of God, divine Mind. There can be no mental reservation about the falsity of evil's claim.

Like the ruler who asked Jesus, "Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" we may sometimes wonder, "What more must I do to receive my healing in Christian Science?" The ruler had been faithful. He told Jesus he had kept the Commandments from his youth. Yet our Master said that he still had something to do: he must sell his material possessions and give to the poor before he could have treasure in heaven.
