Christian Science Committees on Publication Report GROWING APPRECIATION OF THE MONITOR

[From annual reports]

Germany (United States Zone)

In our country The Christian Science Monitor enjoys appreciation in increasing measure. The idea of The Christian Science Publishing Society to give free subscriptions to interested English-speaking persons in Germany is a farsighted and excellent one. Those in the fields of pedagogics, economics, politics, as well as the press, constantly express their high esteem of the paper. For example, a techer of a grammar school, who uses the Monitor in his English lessons, writes to the Assistant Committee: "I now use the Monitor regularly in classes, reading articles aloud, which are afterwards commented upon. Besides, I distribute copies to the pupils and have found out that they read the paper with interest. It is really a pleasure to read a newspaper with such a wide horizon."

Another person told that she was well acquainted with the high goals of the Monitor by her stay in America and that she appreciated it that "this source of information entirely serving the purposes of truth" has been made accessible to her. The owner of a newspaper publishing firm called the Monitor his "favorite paper" in a discussion with the Assistant Committee.
