"O DREAMER, LEAVE THY DREAMS ..."

These stirring words from the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 412), "O dreamer, leave thy dreams for joyful waking," arouse one to turn from the dream of life in matter to the spiritual reality of life in Spirit, God.

Some time ago a woman desperately wanted to relinquish the dream of material existence and gain spiritual reality. She had been suffering severely from a so-called incurable disease and turned to Christian Science for healing. A practitioner lovingly gave her help. Faithfully the woman studied and tried to apply the healing truths revealed in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

During this testing time she was living at a vantage point on a lake from which she could see glorious sunsets. Evening after evening she was enthralled with the beauty of the sky, the setting sun, and the grandeur of the afterglow. The material senses testified to a stationary earth and a sun that moved from east to west, but she knew that there was no truth in this. One day she recognized that it was not difficult for her to reject as untrue the physical sense testimony of a rising and setting sun. Were not the same senses telling her that she was living in a sick body? She began to awaken to the truth of being, and this awakening aroused her to see that health, joy, and harmony are ever-present realities and belong to man as God's reflection. Her healing was soon complete.
