Jesus said to his disciples (John 14:16), "I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever." Mary Baker Eddy in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," says (p. 55), "This Comforter I understand to be Divine Science." The Comforter came to me at a time when I was sick, mentally and physically.

For over thirty years I was a sufferer from chronic stomach trouble, constipation, rheumatism, and other physical disorders and had reached the stage where a careful and exacting diet had to be resorted to. I was advised to undergo an operation, which I did, without any benefit. Then I was told by a friend that Christian Science would heal me. I borrowed Science and Health and started reading daily. While reading I was healed of many of these ailments.

However, I continued to suffer from the stomach trouble for several years. One Sunday morning in church I felt an attack coming on and fainted as usual. But I was able to realize that God is my Life and that I had nothing to fear. I learned later that the First Reader was realizing the same thing. I was healed, and the condition has never returned in the eleven years since then. Christian Science has been my physician for over twenty years.
