My heart is filled with gratitude...

My heart is filled with gratitude for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I came to Christian Science because I wanted to know the way to follow the Master, to leave the worldly life I was leading, to travel the path from sense to Soul. My health was good, my affairs were in order, my supply was adequate for my needs, but deep within my being was the constant yearning to know more about God, to prove what Life is. I was early trained in the Scriptures, as my father was a Baptist clergyman. But I had to know the teaching of Christian Science in order to use the Bible truths in my daily experience. By faithful study of the Bible and of Science and Health and our Leader's other writings, attendance at our lectures, reading of our wonderful publications, and utilization of that blessed provision of our Leader's, class instruction, my cup was filled to running over. Through sincere prayer and application of the truths given us by Mrs. Eddy and by turning unreservedly to "the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (James 1:17), my mother and I have had many healings in Christian Science.

I was healed of chronic constipation over twenty-five years ago just by reading Science and Health. This healing has been permanent. I was healed of an attack of tonsillitis by my mother reading to me from Science and Health.

I have been healed of fatigue and now go to business all day, care for a semi-invalid mother, attend to the housekeeping of an apartment, and take part in church activities, besides finding the time for study, when before, I thought I was completely weary just after a business day. I owe the healing of fatigue to the spiritual truth of the Bible verse in Isaiah (60:1), "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee." My mother wrote this verse in my new Bible, and the truth of it found its way deep into my consciousness and became a spiritual command, which I was impelled to obey.
