I am grateful to God for this...
I am grateful to God for this opportunity of putting into expression my gratitude for Christian Science, and I am more grateful each day to its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, for the completeness of the revelation of this blessed religion. I am grateful, too, for the unfolding realization that this completeness is to be demonstrated in the lives of its students and that we are blessed when our human footsteps include active participation in the Christian Science movement, such as regualr attendance at church services, lectures, and business meetings, subscribing to the Christian Science periodicals in our own name, and daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly.
I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the guidance of our Father-Mother God in keeping me in the way of Christ, Truth, from an early age, my mother having been introduced to Christian Science when I was about four years old. I am deeply grateful to divine Love for protecting and guiding me through the four years of my recent Army service, as well as for the help given service men and women by the Christian Science Wartime Ministers.
Through the prayerful and loving assistance of one of these consecrated workers I was led to be helpful and about my Father's business, even though I was in a medical department training camp. Humility in letting God's will be done had to be learned and demonstrated in its fullest meaning, and I was many times grateful for the simple truth of God as omnipotent Love that had been learned in the Christian Science Sunday School. This proof of right activity was a complete demonstration, for in the months and years that followed I was divinely directed to pursue a course of Army training and duty that led to my attaining the highest noncommissioned position that was possible in my particular field of training and theater of operations.
