In our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...

In our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, we find on page 595 that the definition of "tithe" includes the word gratitude. I wish to give this testimony as my tithe, and I trust it may help others.

Many years ago, while living in the Middle West, I was in the advanced stages of tuberculosis; I had been taking serums and was confined to my bed for two months. Upon improving somewhat I felt that I wanted to go to the West Coast to see some relatives before I passed on. While making my visit, I was taken very ill again. Not knowing anything about Christian Science, but wanting to please the relatives in whose house we were visiting, I consented to have them call a practitioner. Absent treatment was given, and in two days I was able to ride on the streetcar and go to see the practitioner. After about ten days' help I was healed and able to resume the journey home.

In the ensuing years we have witnessed many other halings in our family, such as the healing of appendicitis, children's diseases, nervous trouble, and a severe attack of gallstones. Some of them were speedy healings and some required much study and consecration of thought to get a better understanding. I am most grateful for them all.
