Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Madison, Wisconsin (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Madison, marked a milestone in its history as it dedicated its church building at 315 Wisconsin Avenue on October 23, 1949. There were two additional services, one in the afternoon and the other in the evening, as well as the customary service in the morning.

The first Christian Science church in Madison was organized in 1894, although Christian Science was known here in the eighties.

Services, at first held in the homes of members, were later held in the old Jewish synagogue on West Washington Avenue, and from there moved to the auditorium of the Woman's building.

The cornerstone of the present building was laid on January 1, 1929, and the first service was held there in October of that year.
