Never was I more grateful for...

Never was I more grateful for the healing truths of Christian Science than in September, 1945, when we received word from the United States War Department that our son had been killed when the plane in which he was a passenger crashed on Okinawa. Through Science I was able to rise above the belief of loss. My gratitude that I had been blessed by having such a fine son was helpful. At this time I was serving as a Christian Science Wartime Worker. I made my regular trips to the hospital, comforting and helping those boys and girls who had returned from overseas. Many healings resulted from this higher understanding of Life, and I am most grateful that I was so occupied at that time. I was also grateful for the fine articles which appeared in the Sentinel and The Christian Science Journal. They were indeed messages of comfort.

Many healings have unfolded during the thirty-two years since Christian Science came to me. I immediately knew that it was the truth. Recently I had a remarkable healing of a misplaced bone in my foot. There was intense pain for several hours, but the adjustment took place overnight. I remember reading from page 250 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. It is a privilege to continually reread this book, and the marker happened to be at that page at the time. The message given there met my need.

While I was vacationing in another state, a valuable diamond ring disappeared from my purse. I discovered this on a Friday evening. The Tuesday before, we had attended a Christian Science lecture. After searching the walks and paths and the house in which I was staying, I worked diligently to be guided. The next morning I picked up the morning paper and turned to an advertisement which read, "Found, a diamond ring." I called the telephone number given, and immediately the party said, "I have your ring." She had found it after the lecture on Tuesday evening and had been praying that it would be returned to its rightful owner. I thought of the good work done by the lecturer and the lecture committee. Nothing could be lost where the truth was being thought and voiced so forcefully.
