Taft, Oregon (Society).

Dedication services were held in the morning and afternoon on Sunday, June 11, 1950, at the new edifice of the Christian Science Society here. The following history was read:

"In July, 1931, the first Christian Science service was held in Taft, and the meetings continued during the summer and fall of that year at the home of one of the group.

"In 1934 services were resumed in a residence, but soon afterward a cottage located on Pacific Avenue was offered for use, and church services were held there continuously until the present edifice was occupied.

"This informal group was accepted as a society by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 19, 1936.

"The first Sunday School superintendent was appointed on July 31, 1934. On April 10, 1945, it was voted to have a Reading Room.

"The church property on which the new edifice stands was donated on May 19, 1948. The first services were held in the uncompleted structure on Sunday, January 2, 1949. The building was completed in September of 1949."
