In 1897 my father was healed of rheumatism in its worst form by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. At the same time he was healed of a malignant spot in the temple which the doctor had pronounced cancer and dangerous to his life. A short time later my mother was healed of inflammatory rheumatism that had confined her to her bed for eight months; and when she was eighty-one years old, she was healed of a broken arm. A member of the family called a doctor, but he would not set the bones because of her age and predicted that she would never have the use of her arm again. But through Christian Science treatment she was healed and used the arm for many years. I myself was healed of a form of heart dropsy after many years of invalidism.
My children have been healed of many things. My oldest daughter at the age of twelve was suffering from spinal meningitis. She was unconscious, and my husband, not a Scientist at that time, called in a medical doctor. When the doctor gave up all hope, Christian Science treatment was given, and the child became conscious, rose from her bed, and was well.
My youngest son was healed of rheumatic fever after the doctors said that he could not live a week and that if he did live, he would be crippled all of his life. Work was done for him in Christian Science. Not only did he live, but he is the picture of health and has traveled all over the world in a most active position as disaster officer and athletic instructor for an international organization.
