On page 273 in the Christian Science...

On page 273 in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we find this statement: "There is no material truth." What a revolutionary statement to startle and challenge the thought of one asleep in the belief that the material is all that is true! On the same page are these words: "Divine Science reverses the false testimony of the material senses, and thus tears away the foundations of error." As one turns to Christian Science for the revelation of Truth, his baptism and regeneration begin.

Christian Science came into my life over twenty years ago when everything I had believed and trusted in was being swept away. For several years a situation had existed in my home causing great unhappiness, ill-health, and finally what a physician called a nervous collapse. I had been put to bed to stay. A dear friend told my little daughter that Christian Science could make me well again, and she brought the message to me. I had always ridiculed what I thought Christian Science to be, but in my very desperate plight I agreed to try it.

From my early childhood I had thought much about God, but what I had been taught regarding Him was very unsatisfactory. To my great joy and relief Christians Science showed me that I did not have to fear God, but that I could love and trust Him. For the first few days I did not grasp much of the truth I was reading regarding reality—I was too sure the physical difficulties were real. However, my joy in finding God kept me reading to get more light on this subject, and in another couple of days the light penetrated the seeming fog and I had a great urge to get out of bed, even against the doctor's strict orders.
